Truce’s mission is to make this world a better and livable place for all men and women, who face injustice and oppression due to gender inequality, poverty, illiteracy, racism, politico religious prejudices and environmental degradation.

The organization was established as Care (Center for Awareness, Research and Environment) in 2000 and worked with British Petroleum’s Road Safety Program. Care also undertook a World Bank Environment Project of nursery for plants in Taluka Hatri, District Hyderabad Sindh Pakistan, which proved to be a success in the Miani Forest Area. CARE continued working for awareness, women’s rights and indigenous rights in one way or other for six years.
The trust was later renamed and registered as Truce “Trust for Rural Uplift, Culture and Environment” in 2006.
Truce campaigns and undertakes projects for combating pollution and safety of environment, initiate a development process in which the participation of the communities plays a central role, economic and social advancement of the people of Pakistan, particularly the under-developed areas and the marginalized communities including women and children.
Truce takes efforts for conservation of biodiversity and strives for public education on biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
Truce is fully active to restore the key habitat and biodiversity of Indus Eco region for sustainable development and future prosperity.
Truce also works for professioanl, free and independent media, education, culture, gender equality and poverty alleviation.
Truce promotes respect for human rights by mobilizing popular opinion through human rights skills building and organizing; exposing abuse through documentation; addressing violation through direct action, policy/legal reform and litigation; networking and coalition building to further the effectiveness of human rights work; and capacity building for organizations engaged in the above work, locally and regionally.

On January 24, 2009, Truce Cultural Display Center was inaugurated by Minister for Culture and Tourism Sindh Province, Ms Sassui Palijo, as the first step to preserve and promote the indigenous handicrafts, embroidery and traditional artifacts.
Truce Team
visited the Alternate Energy Department of Agha Khan School, Kari Mori Hyderabad
Sindh Pakistan, where they observed the solar and renewable energy techniques
and products.
A small girl in Village Sher Muhammad Abro, District Matiari was so impressed from the Energy Efficient Stove that was introduced by Truce in the village that for her play she prepared a tiny mud stove.
